Yitro 17-4

Yitro

Exodus 19:1-6

'You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself.

Ex. 19:4 NIV

What is the most important thing in life?

The Eternal took the sons and daughters of Israel out of Egypt with one purpose only, that they would be close to Him. This is the most important thing for human beings - to be close to the Eternal.

Why did the Eternal make those powerful signs and miracles in Egypt? To bring the people to Himself. Why did He divide the Reed Sea and take the people to the desert? To bring the people to Himself. Why did He teach the people all the laws for a sanctified and right behaviour? To bring the people to Himself. Why did He establish Israel as a nation? To have a people who would be close to Him.

Intimacy with the Eternal is the most important thing in life. It doesn’t matter if you have money, friends, prosperity and happiness in this world, if you haven’t developed intimacy with the Eternal, all the rest is as good as nothing.

Men were created not only to live for the Eternal but also to live with Him. If you are not living close to Him and you haven’t experienced His presence within you in a concrete manner, you must seek Him with all your heart, being willing to sacrifice everything you have just to achieve the most important thing in life i.e. intimacy with the Eternal.

Set aside at least an hour a day for prayer, praise, worship and study of the Scriptures. In this way you’ll develop intimacy with the Eternal.

May all go well,

Ketriel
